In the far future, humans have evolved into many subspecies. Tunnel is part of the extremely rare and elusive "Ascended", who are capable of powerful magic, while still having strong bodies. However, their kind are few and far between, and are often hunted by regular humans as their blood is said to have mystical properties, and sells for its weight in diamonds on the black market. Tunnel is part of a high-profile mercenary group actively on the run, and he is their getaway driver, so to speak.
